Hi all, I just picked up a copy of HoK 'Gold Edition' and everything was a OK until I hit on a silly idea of checking if there are any updates available. I let the program patch itself and now I can't even start it, instead I get a lovely 'Cannot locate the DVD-ROM. Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select OK and restart application' message, as much fun as I have staring at this message playing the game was somewhat more enjoyable. The Settlers: Paths to a Kingdom NO INTRO FIX; Game. Some No-CD/Fixed EXE files work fine in Single Player mode but are detected to be modified. Patch Engines. If I reinstall the program everything seems to be OK but patching it screws things up again. I own a legit copy, it's not a pirated disc. Any ideas what is going on? Should I bother patching the game anyway? Cheers, Michal. My new monitor did not run with the actualy my latest graphics card updates, so I reversed and used old drivers, wa-la, my sh*t works with HoK and other games graphicaly, and I have had that no disc stuff problem the same for some time with a bunch of games, hmmm, I don't really know much on tech stuff but for now I know old is better than new. To fix no disc thing on XP, I uninstalled my dvd-rom drive and restarted, forcing the conflict between that and my CD writer to end, other times it started I went ahead and uninstalled both drives, writer and reader, and BAM, wa-la, no trouble's since. I went through system in contrl panel to the device manager, right clicked the dvd rom and writer and uninstalled one at a time each, restarted, darn worked. Was a conflict there. Im not sure if i should post this, in the category but here goes. I recently bought The Settlers Heritage of Kings: Gold Edition and i was excited to open it up and start playing. But alas, problems occured during installation:S Everything seemed fine until i had to chose method of installation, where i chose standard installation. Up popped a window that said:' Error while copying files (SetupAutoUpdate)' I didnt know what to do so i just pressed continue. Then it seemed like the installation started without a hitch. It showed pictures from the game, and was installing components. Then it said:' InstallShield Wizard Complete. The InstallShield Wizard has succesfully installed THE SETTLERS - Heritage of Kings. Click Finish to exit the wizard' I then did as it i was told, and pressed finish and hoped to be able to play, although the weird error had occurred. Then another window containing the minimum requirements for the game, and two buttonsm one that said:' Launch game' and another that said:'Quit' But i was only able to press the quit button. So i did and tried to launch the game but re-inserting the disk and pressing install Expansion Disc. But instantly an error message popped up. It said:' Error when starting: setup.exe' Then i tried pressing play in the menu and it responded with the message:' THE SETTLERS - Heritage of Kings could not be started' and nothing else. Then finally i tried reinstalling everything. But same problem. I don't know what to do. It's a new computer with Windows Vista Home Basic with 296 GB harddisk and 4,00 GB RAM. I'm not sure what to do. Please advise:P En_sten. Create breathtaking 3D cities alive with industrious inhabitants, changing seasons, and more than 60 medieval building types.
